The concept to Ying and Yang is central to Chinese cosmology. Yin and Yang are symbolized the sun and moon.
There are two opposing forces active in the universe. Yin exists in Yang and Yang exists in Yin. This is the the changing combination of negative and positive, dark and light, cold and hot which keeps the world spinning and creates Chi - the giving life force.

The cat that makes up the handle on this teapot is wonderful abstract creature. The lines of this piece work quite well with the curve of the cat.

You may be familiar with the art work of the Southwest Artis Georgia O'Keefe. This teapot is reminiscent of the flowing lines of her flower paintings. It was developed in a program of exchange potters in China who worked there and shared their ideas of pottery and design. It was very well received and so entered into their production.
